Basic Handgun Firearms Safety

A 3 hour Class that teaches you to select , maintain and safely practice with your Handgun

 

What We Teach

 

This beginners course is designed to develop basic handgun selection, maintenance and safely shooting and practicing with your handguns. .  You receive a certificate of completion certifying you have met the all training requirements to safely handle a handgun . This class is a solid learning experience with a chance to practice the skills and discuss techniques with knowledgeable NRA trained instructors who are shooters.

 

We limit class size a maximum of 8 to provide individual attention and both instructors are experienced shooters and skilled trainers. We are competition shooters firing thousands of rounds per year.and will assure you get hands on individaul experience

Topic 2: Introduction to Pistol Parts, their Safety Features & Operation

Topic 3:Pistol and Ammo Selection

Topic 4:Basic Cleaning and Maintance

Topic 5: Safe handling and Transport

Topic 6:Range Work

We have worked with many, many students and have a variety of techniques to help you understand the operation and tactical deployment of your firearm. We strongly believe people learn by doing so we demonstrate and you actually do the procedures demonstrated in a safe environment. We are accident free and plan to keep this record intact.

As active shooters in International Defensive Pistol Association we are familiar with many different holster types and manufacturers and can guide you in selecting a gun and holster that is right for you.

When, Where and What Does It Cost

We have set the course cost at $75.00 for prepaid classes. $15 surcharge to pay at the class. That includes the targets, course supplies and any eye and ear protection required.  If you don’t already own a defensive handgun wait, take the class, and try a variety. No charge for using our guns, just the ammo you use. We include up to 50 rounds of 22 caliber ammo at no charge.  That’s $75  for a premier class that qualifies you to carry in Minnesota.

 We have over 3 hours of class time.  We offer a one day class from 9am to noon for folks wanting it all in one day. Check our websites for a current listing of class dates scheduled.

About the Instructors

Bob Jahn was a co founder of the Twin Cities IDPA chapter and served as its president/chair for 5 years.  He is a 5 Gun Marksman in IDPA and recently earned Sharpshooter standing in Stock Service Pistol. Bob is a graduate of Front Sight's 4 Day Handgun class, LFI I, DTI Intermediate and Advanced Handgun and 2 Final Option Advanced Carry Classes. He is certified as a Personal Protection Pistol instructor by the states of MN and Utah, as well as the NRA.

Jon is certified as an Personal Protection Pistol Instructor by the NRA and by REJ Firearms Training as a MN carry permit instructor. Jon also has the graduated from DTI's Intermediate and Advanced Handgun Class and their AR 15 class. Jon is also an  FFL Class 1 stocking dealer and can obtain almost any legal firearm for you.  Jon is also a gunsmith and Glock and Sig certifed armorer.  Jon is a Marksman in IDPA's CDP division and a Sharpshooter in the SSP & ESP divisions.

All classes are offered by the instructors’ LLCs where they serve as governors .
